Response from Leslie

Read Leslie's VBAC story here.

I wanted a vaginal birth so badly. I had always from my very first birth wanted to do things the most natural way possible. I read all the right books and magazines, knew everything there was to know, and had such wretched experiences! It seemed so unfair! Knowing this was possibly my last baby, I was absolutely determined to experience vaginal birth this time.

I started by reading Open Season. That really filled me with power, the feeling that I could do it. I read it over and over throughout the pregnancy whenever I felt doubt. I also read the birth stories the Compleat Mother publishes. Anything to help me think positively.

I took Bradley Classes this time instead of Lamaze, and did my practicing too. :-)

In addition to my usual large amounts of vitamins, I drank lots of raspberry leaf tea and took evening primrose oil and an herbal preparation with black and blue cohosh toward the end of my pregnancy. I also visited a chiropractor regularly to help the baby stay positioned properly (two breech babies prior).

Finally, I joined a yahoogroups list called AnEmpoweringVBAC that was very encouraging and full of information, particularly from a women named Kathy who has 12 children, of whom 8 were HBACs.
